Burning Power is proud to announce,
on 04/01/09, an agreement between Burning Man LLC
& Burning Power has been completed.
This three-year arrangement
will allow the distribution of
electrical power to all Theme Camps
during the annual
Burning Man
Festival, held each summer
within the Black Rock Desert, in
Northern Nevada.
Electrical Power is vital to
the growth & development of daily
life within the gates of Black Rock
City. The
Burning Man Project,
Black Rock Solar, the Gerlach
Green Energy Initiative and Burning
Power are working together
to provide the participants of
the annual festival a Cleaner &
Greener way to
light up the night and power their
toys.
Burning Power was created by several
long-time Playa veterans that were
tired of dealing with the hassles of
transporting or renting generators
for the week-long party in the
desert. They were also
concerned about traveling hundreds
of miles with large amounts of
gasoline and the engine lubricant
waste from numerous oil changes.
The 50,000+ residents of Black Rock
City consume close to 500,000
megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity
in a 14 day period. With the
utilization of that much energy,
there is also the need to consider
the total amount of Carbon Emissions
being poured into the atmosphere.
Burning Power is committed to
generating this electricity in the
most clean & efficient way possible.
